The Detroit Drama Studio is the certified Chubbuck studio for Michigan and Illinois actors looking to learn how to implement the Ivana Chubbuck technique into thier work.

Ivana Chubbuck is one of the most sought-after acting coaches in Hollywood and award-winning actors such as Charlize Theron, Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhal, Halle Berry, Jim Carrey, Gerard Butler, and Jared Leto have all used her technique for their most important roles. THE POWER OF THE ACTOR

At the Detroit Drama Studio, all actors work in an environment where their peers take their work and the craft seriously. Actors will be given a combination of scenes and monologues to perform weekly. Actors will be given a minimum of two scenes a month to enrich your scene analysis skills utilizing the Chubbuck technique.

The studio provides a unique and highly personalized method of learning, creating a nurturing environment that educates and encourages actors to achieve their highest level of success. DETROIT DRAMA STUDIO OFFERINGS

CHUBBUCK TECHNIQUE MASTER CLASS

In this weekly Tuesday class, actors will learn the 12 steps of the Ivana Chubbuck Technique. Actors will be trained on how to apply the technique through weekly scene work. Each actor is expected to prepare and perform all assigned scene work. Actors can anticipate performing at minimum two scenes per session. All scene work must be memorized and performed off-book. This hybrid class alternates weekly between in-person and virtual. Before joining the class, you will need to purchase the book, "The Power of the Actor" by Ivana Chubbuck.

This class meets four times a month from 7p to 10p on Tuesday nights.

SMALL GROUP COACHING

Small group coaching is available for beginning and seasoned actors new to the Chubbuck Technique. The class varies in group size from 1 to 6 participants. This class is required for actors who wish to eventually transition into the master class. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 7p to 9p.

AUDIT A CLASS

Actors interested in taking the small group class or masters Chubbuck course are welcome to sit in on a class and get an idea of what will be required from actors who wish to join the class. Auditing is strictly reserved for those who are interested in taking classes.
